I haven't seen this level of saltiness since OJ Simpson was declared not guilty. What's white America's problem, anyway? They are much more sensitive than usual. I was in class today and the normally hyper-liberal white Americans, would not let me get a word in edge-wise. Are they thinking, "These niggas are trying to be the boss of me! You are not the boss of me, nigga!"? Of course they are.
But, have the tables turned? Well, we, African Americans, have definitely become more confident. I'm sure many of us are thinking to ourselves, "Yes! Take THAT whitie. Take THAT!". But, overall, many African Americans just feel relieved that they are finally a part of America. Let's face facts, America has tried really hard to ignore African Americans. Like, McCain, white America thought that if they did not look at us or acknowledge our existence then we would cease to be a reality. (I know. Coo-coo, right? That's why African Americans think that white people are crazy)
The irony is that although this election has brought people together, the reasoning is flawed. It is actually laughable that we are proud and white people are mad because Obama is black. Besides it is ridiculous that race plays a part in any decision making process, Obama is part Black AND white.
Americans' love-hate relationship with racism is confusing. On one hand, I understand that racism is really about self-preservation. The Haves like having and would like to keep it that way. Hell, if the playing field was leveled many of the previously privileged would not be able to compete with those who are stronger, smarter, and faster. Having the boost of racial entitlement gives them the edge they need to fight help extinction. It's like insurance for underachievers. The question is, as the race playing field becomes leveled, what tactic will underachievers use next?
